YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A JOINER: A Salon Manifesto.

For all the supposed connection the internet brings us in this oh-so-modern age, I am sure I am not the only one who has felt its isolating effects. 400 Facebook friends does not a party make - or even a good conversation for that matter.

But things like writing groups, book groups, and just...groups in general demand the kind of reliable commitment that L.A. makes difficult.

No Small Talk L.A. is a bi-monthly salon. It is an opportunity for people to get together in a room for discovery, performance, creation and inspiration.

This salon is going alternate between two different kinds of formats - PRESENTATION and PERFORMANCE.

PRESENTATION will be what it sounds like. It will be 20 to 60 minutes of structured talk on interesting topics, delivered by entertaining and knowledgeable peeps. The intention of each presentation salon will be to consciously question how we actively live whatever truth we believe in.

PERFORMANCE will be a programmed sharing of artistic work. This will not be juried, but it will be curated in order to give each evening a theme or common context.

Our first NoSmallTalk L.A. will be Wednesday June 30. Come. Hang out. Bring beverages and snacks.
